Question:  Ringworm treatment

We're having quite a time with ringworm in our herd.  One three month old cria has it under one eye on the lower lid and a spot on his chest.  It seemed to be cleared up but now it's back.  Another cria the same age has a large spot on her chest.  Our third cria, seven months old, has it on her nose directly in front of her eye.  Lastly is a seventeen month old male (not in contact with the youngsters) who has had a small spot high up on the bridge of his nose and yesterday I noticed another scabe in his eyebrow.

Any suggestions on a treatment that will get rid of this stuff for good?

Answer:

If you can find fulvicin tablets, I give 100 mg/kg body weight weekly for 2 weeks. This is greseofulvin.

Topically, I usually treat with tincture of iodine or straight nolvasan. Apply with a cotton swab so as not to get any in eyes etc - very irritating. Apply every other day for 1 week.

That is how I treat ringworm here.
