Question:

March 22, 2005

hello!  I have raised llamas since 1991 and have had many crias born on the farm.  I have always boostered my pregnant females 4 to 6 weeks ahead of due dates with CD/T.  Igg readings have been solid, falling between 1600 up to 2800.  I booster the crias at 3 months with CD/T, and follow up with another shot in 4 weeks.  I am reading guidelines now that say to give crias, 2 to 3 days old C and D, to be repeated in 2 to 3 weeks.  What is this based on
and should I be changing my practices?  thank you for your help.

Answer:

RE vaccines. If females are vaccinated in last 60 days, I do not vaccinate the crias. If not, then I vaccinate the crias.
